Ceramics

We are here once, briefly, between dust and dust. The beautiful part is the in-between: a turn to create and to do what is meaningful.

Nothing I create is finished. I make ceramics to bring objects into the world long enough to produce a feeling or a shift in attention. The form is then broken down, the clay reclaimed, and reintroduced again. The object is not an endpoint but an occupant of the in-between, taking its turn to be beautiful between dust and dust. As I take mine.

Some moments between clay:

A tall flared bottle, a lidded bottle and a stacked-gourd form drying on a studio shelf.
A tall bottle beside a gourd form, drying.
A gourd form, freshly thrown, still on the wheel.
Bisque bottles, vases and a small bowl on a table at home.
A tall bottle on the wheel in a busy studio.
Two bottles, freshly thrown, beside the wheel.
A tall bottle on the wheel at the end of a throw.

All forms are hollow and thrown in one piece on the wheel.
